The Edo State Government is intensifying efforts to strengthen internally generated revenue (IGR) through reforms in land administration, with Governor Monday Okpebholo directing the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS) to accelerate digital transformation and adopt innovative strategies that enhance operational efficiency.

The one-day workshop, themed “EDOGIS Revenue Increase: Thinking Outside the Box – A Strategic Framework for Sustainable Revenue Growth, Digital Transformation and Institutional Excellence,” brought together management staff, heads of departments and unit heads to develop practical approaches for improving revenue generation and institutional performance.
Okpebholo described EDOGIS as a strategic institution whose efficiency directly influences land governance, investor confidence and the state’s revenue outlook. He said embracing technology-driven solutions and global best practices would improve transparency, reduce administrative bottlenecks and enhance service delivery.
According to him, a digitally driven land administration system will not only expand revenue opportunities but also provide a more predictable and transparent framework for property transactions, investment and urban development.
He urged participants to leverage the workshop to acquire practical knowledge capable of delivering measurable improvements in revenue collection, operational efficiency and customer service, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to institutional reforms, capacity development and technology adoption across government agencies.
Managing Director of EDOGIS, Dr. Innocent Bello, said the workshop was designed to challenge existing operational models and equip staff with practical tools for achieving sustainable revenue growth through innovation and institutional excellence.
Bello noted that the agency is positioning itself as a model for digital land administration, adding that improved service delivery, efficient land management and technology adoption are essential to supporting Edo’s economic transformation agenda.
Industry experts drawn from the banking and strategic leadership sectors delivered presentations on digital transformation, leadership and innovative revenue strategies, highlighting the role of data, technology and institutional capacity in driving sustainable public sector performance.
The workshop reflects the Edo State Government’s broader push to strengthen public institutions, improve the ease of doing business and diversify revenue sources as it seeks to reduce dependence on federal allocations while creating a more investment-friendly environment.
