The Accord Party in Ogun State has announced Okewole Olaniyi as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The party chairman, Michael Oke, announced this during the party’s governorship and House of Assembly primaries held at its secretariat in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Oke, who also chaired the electoral committee, said the party adopted a consensus arrangement to avoid rancour and strengthen unity within the party.
He also announced candidates for the state House of Assembly election.
“For the primary election of the state assembly in Ogun state, held at the party’s secretariat here in Abeokuta, the following aspirants won, and they are Mr Salami Monsuru, who emerged the winner for Ado-Odo/ Ota 2 state constituency; Mr Jinadu Oyeniyi for Sagamu 1 state constituency and then Mrs Abulraheem Lateefat for Abeokuta North state constituency. This is signed and authenticated.
“Also, for the gubernatorial candidate, Mr Okewole Olaniyi emerged as the winner of the primary,” he stated.
Oke urged the candidates to remain focused and promote the party’s manifesto among residents of the state.
He said the party was committed to ensuring development in Ogun State.
In his acceptance speech, Olaniyi, represented by the Director-General of his campaign organisation, Waheed Azeez, appreciated the party leadership and pledged to work towards improving governance in the state.
“We are making an attempt to effect a total overhauling of the status quo politically. We believe that what we are witnessing at the state is not the best and the Accord party is poised to change it strategically and to bring about something positive that will help redefine good governance across the state,” he said.
