According to a statement made available to The PUNCH on Thursday, Adeluyi made the declaration on Saturday during a strategic meeting with stakeholders at his residence in Ilara, Ogun State.
The statement noted that his decision to contest was driven by the need to ensure equity within the local political structure, noting that Zone 3 of Imeko-Afon Local Government had remained without representation in key political offices for the past eight years.
“My decision to contest is the product of wide-ranging consultations and a deep sense of responsibility to serve the people with integrity, competence, and measurable impact.
“I want to draw attention to a critical concern of equity within the local political structure. Zone 3 of Imeko-Afon Local Government, comprising three wards, has, for the past eight years, remained without representation in key political offices,” the statement read.
Adeluyi, while unveiling his vision tagged ‘Projecting Advancement for Tomorrow,’ said the agenda would focus on sustainable development, grassroots engagement, and inclusive governance.
He appealed for fairness in the zoning arrangement, stressing the need to give Zone 3 an opportunity to produce the next representative.
“In the spirit of fairness, justice, and inclusive governance, I respectfully advocate that the forthcoming opportunity be allocated to Zone 3 as a necessary step toward fostering balance and strengthening unity.
“It will also give all segments of the constituency a genuine sense of belonging,” he added. The former council boss assured constituents of quality representation and fairness if elected into office.
The statement added that stakeholders at the meeting endorsed his aspiration and pledged support toward securing his emergence as the APC candidate.
