Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has said that the presidential ambition of former Anambra State governor and 2023 Labour Party candidate Peter Obi is not achievable at this time, insisting that recent political developments around him will not succeed.
The comment was made on Tuesday in a post on X, where Edochie reacted to ongoing discussions about Obi’s reported political realignments, including links to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and emerging coalition movements ahead of future elections in Nigeria.
In the post, he wrote:“Any political party Peter Obi joins will scatter. Whatever he’s doing with ADC is dead on arrival. A total waste of time. It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that. I’m surprised he doesn’t know this already. Or maybe he knows but chooses to ignore it. But the truth remains the truth. Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now.”
Obi contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party and has recently been part of conversations around possible political alliances and regrouping ahead of the next election cycle, including the proposed “OK Movement”.
Meanwhile, Edochie is widely known for his strong support for President Bola Tinubu. He has previously described himself as an “Asiwaju Boy 100%,” a stance he has repeatedly expressed on social media through posts, public appearances, and endorsements of the president’s administration.
Over time, he has also shared content supporting Tinubu’s policies, including comments praising improvements in governance, while dismissing criticisms from opposition voices. His political remarks have, however, continued to generate mixed reactions online.
Edochie’s support for the president has made him one of the more vocal Nollywood figures aligned with the current administration, with his statements often sparking public debate across social media platforms.
