At least 37 children are still reported missing following an attack on Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira Uba local government area of Borno state on Monday, according to data.

In an interview with our correspondent on Tuesday, parents of the abducted children said the government has opened a register for them to report missing persons.
Ibrahim Yohanna, whose 16-year-old daughter was abducted, confirmed that 37 names have been registered so far.
He said, “Parents who could not find their children were invited to come and register. I discovered that 37 names have been registered so far to be missing”, he stated.
Also, Emmanuel Wadzani said, “My 17-year-old son is still missing. I am trusting God he will be back,” he said.
Another parent, Birtus Joshua, whose daughter was abducted, said families have been thrown into panic since the abduction.
He said, “My 16-year-old daughter is in SSS 2. Her name is Lucy Emmanuel. She was in the class when the terrorists took them away. Since yesterday, we have not been able to sleep.
“When I heard about the attack, we were confused. Later, I was happy when I heard about the rescue. Getting there, myself and many other parents could not find our children,” he narrated.
According to him, the state government has sent a delegation led by Lawan Wakilbe the Commissioner of Education, who is currently in the town to assess the situation.
“The state Commissioner of Education is currently around. They came to see us and to assess the situation,” he added.
Meanwhile, a resident in the town, Bitrus Milnda, said that two of his relations are among the victims.
“Two victims, both of them related to me from my mother’s side, were abducted. Their names are Victoria and Victor Waziri. They are all in SSS2,”
