Agali was rushed to a hospital in Yaba but was confirmed dead on arrival.
The command confirmed the incident in a post on its X handle on Sunday, saying, “The Command is aware of the shooting incident involving Adedipe Adeyinkan, popularly known as ‘Agali,’ which occurred on 11th April 2026 at about 11:30 p.m. on National Stadium Bridge inward Iponri.
“The victim was rushed to Mainland General Hospital, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead.
“Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
The probe comes amid viral social media reports and footage that surfaced shortly after the shooting.
It wrote, “IPONRI, SURULERE: Last night, the number one man of the Buccaneers (BAN) cult group, named Agali, was killed in the Iponri area of Surulere.
“Agali was the biggest, most feared, and most influential figure in the Buccaneers cult in Surulere. He was described as nice, friendly, rich,”
Cult-related violence has remained a recurring security challenge in parts of Lagos, often involving turf wars between groups such as the Buccaneers, Eiye, and Aye.
