A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday adopted Dumebi Kachikwu as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

In his acceptance speech, Kachikwu said he had accepted the nomination and pledged to tackle insecurity, hunger, poverty and other socio-economic challenges confronting Nigerians.
He assured party members and Nigerians that his administration would be inclusive and focused on improving the living conditions of citizens across the country.
According to him, all Nigerians would be carried along in governance, regardless of political, ethnic or religious differences.
The faction, which is loyal to Kachikwu, said the adoption was part of efforts to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
Elias Adikwu, the electoral committee chairman, announced the decision, which was subsequently ratified by delegates during a national convention held at the A-Class Event Centre in Abuja.
Following the ratification, Abdulkadir Mohammed Bashir, the newly elected national chairman of the faction, presented the party flag to Kachikwu, formalising his mandate for the upcoming general elections.
The convention also served as a platform to elect new members to the faction’s National Working Committee (NWC). Alongside Bashir, several officials were appointed to key administrative positions within the splinter group.
The newly constituted executive team comprises: Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman – Kingsley Oggah (North Central), Deputy National Chairman – Johnny Tovie Derek (South South), National Secretary – Kennedy O. Odion, National Treasurer – Dr Joe Aroh (South South), National Financial Secretary – Chief Amirigoye (South West) National Publicity Secretary – [Insert Name] (South West), National Legal Adviser – Dr Chris Ugwu (South East), National Organising Secretary – Elias Adikwu (North Central), and National Chief Whip – Patrick Ambut (North West). .
