Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State , has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general election.
The governor’s emergence was endorsed by all 36 state chairmen of the party, a development as political parties continue realignments and preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At the event held at Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, Ibadan, the governor was officially presented with his Certificate of Return and the APM flag by the National Chairman of the APM, Yusuf Dantali.
Attended by party leaders, delegates, supporters and political associates in Ibadan, this marks a major step in the APM’s preparations for the 2027 elections as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country.
Dantali in his address described the exercise as one of the most peaceful, transparent and rancour-free political processes in the country.
The consensus arrangement, he pointed out, reflected strong unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
While describing Makinde as a leader with the experience and vision required to move the country forward stated that the party is committed to offering Nigerians what it described as a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s socio-economic and governance challenges.
He noted that the APM would offer Nigerians a credible alternative in 2027.
The APM National Chairman however urged party members across the country to unite behind the presidential candidate and mobilise support ahead of the election.
In his acceptance remarks, Makinde who promised to work with stakeholders across the country to advance the party’s vision and agenda expressed appreciation to the party leadership and delegates for the confidence reposed in him,
