Segun Aina, JAMB’s registrar, has unveiled a seven-point technology reform agenda, signalling a renewed push to modernise the board through digital innovation, stronger cybersecurity and more efficient service delivery, as he sets the tone for his administration.

Aina, who formally took over as registrar on Friday, succeeding Ishaq Oloyede after a decade in the role, rolled out a five-year strategic plan targeting deeper digitisation of its operations.

The 40-year-old professor of computer engineering was named substantive registrar by President Bola Tinubu in May, becoming the youngest person to hold the office.
He resumed duty on Monday, outlining a five-year roadmap, which targets institutional overhaul, branded “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma.” The agenda covers 2026 to 2031 and is structured around what he calls ‘Project 2:5:7’, which stands for two strategic objectives, five pillars and seven flagship initiatives, according to a statement from Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesperson.
The plan is designed to position JAMB as ‘Africa’s most trusted, innovative and accessible assessment and admissions institution,’ building on what Aina described as the gains recorded under his predecessor.
JAMB said the agenda rests on five pillars: integrity, service, governance, technology and partnership. Integrity, described as the foundational pillar, will centre on international standards such as ISO 27001 certification, independent technology audits and verifiable systems aimed at improving transparency and accountability.
On the service and governance fronts, the board plans stronger customer engagement alongside tighter performance monitoring, contract management and internal accountability systems to keep programmes on schedule.
The technology pillar will see JAMB expand its in-house digital infrastructure to support decision-making and service delivery, while the partnership pillar focuses on deeper collaboration with financial institutions.
The seven flagship initiatives listed include an independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, ISO 27001 certification, a unified JAMB mobile app, rebranding and strategic communication efforts, a unified customer service platform, a paperless digital administration system, and improved staff welfare and capacity development.
Aina disclosed that technology would remain central to the transformation but stressed that people, JAMB’s workforce, remain its most valuable asset, urging staff to embrace innovation and teamwork.
He pledged to use every available legal instrument to safeguard the board’s integrity and described his goal as building institutional systems durable enough to outlast individual administrations.
