INEC inspects ADP National Secretariat, urges parties to respect commission as people’s servants

Masud Hassan, leader of INEC delegation, stated this while delivering a keynote address to ADP national, zonal and states officials for the commission’s annual verification exercises for political parties, held at the ADP National headquarters, Abuja.
“This is our constitutional duty. I am sorry, his Excellency is calling us masters, but we are core civil servant. This verification is the annual duty which is a must for our constitutional duty to verify political parties’ claims, objectives and their offices as well as physical appearance to who we are dealing with including humans and structural inspections. That’s the essence of our coming here.”
According to Hassan, requirements for the inspection includes among others, present of all NWC members, composition of national working committee in line with the party constitution, evidence of tenancy including receipt of payment of ownership, membership register including each state, local government, wards, polling units, verification of evidence of staff, six copies of the party constitution and a copy of ADP certificate
Earlier, while welcoming INEC delegations, Sani Yabagi Yusuf, the ADP national chairman, acknowledged the critical role of political parties in the formation of good governance and urge INEC to sustain its support for political parties.
He assured INEC delegations of ADP cooperation to enable the commission deliver quality work to Nigerians.
