The deployment, ordered by Olusola Odumosu, FCT Commandant, is aimed at ensuring the protection of lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
The deployment, ordered by Olusola Odumosu, FCT Commandant, is aimed at ensuring the protection of lives, property, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) before, during, and after the Sallah festivities.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Monica Ojobi, Command’s Public Relations Officer, the deployment cuts across various specialised units of the Corps, including the Arms Squad, Female Strike Force, Crack Squad, and Agro Rangers, all of which will operate in coordinated formations across the territory.
The statement noted that the security build-up is designed to forestall any attempt by criminal elements to exploit the festive period, particularly through acts of sabotage or violent disruption.
The Command disclosed that undercover operatives from the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit have been strategically deployed to sweep designated areas for improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and other potential threats.
Security coverage has also been extended to high-risk and high-density locations, including mosques, Eid prayer grounds, shopping malls, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, amusement parks, and other areas hosting critical infrastructure.
The Corps said “black spots” such as uncompleted buildings and known criminal hideouts have equally been placed under strict surveillance.
Odumosu directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers to intensify collaboration with sister security agencies to ensure seamless coordination and prevent any security breaches during the celebrations.
He further charged personnel to strictly adhere to rules of engagement, warning against harassment, intimidation of civilians, and accidental discharge of firearms.
“As usual, I will not tolerate any form of security breaches. All hands must be on deck. Ensure your personnel comply wholesomely,” the Commandant said.
The NSCDC also urged residents of the FCT to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
It advised against the use of unmarked commercial vehicles or vehicles with tinted windows without proper identification, cautioning residents to avoid roadside pickups to reduce exposure to “one-chance” robbery syndicates and kidnappers.
While wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Odumosu assured residents of the Corps’ readiness to maintain security across the capital, noting that covert operatives and patrol teams have been strategically positioned across the metropolis.
“We are ready to ensure the celebration is peaceful. You have a responsibility to be proactive, vigilant, and cooperate with us for our common good,” he said.
He also issued a strong warning to criminals and vandals to stay away from Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, stressing that NSCDC operatives are fully deployed across the city and will not hesitate to enforce the law against offenders.
