Championship leaders Coventry City saw their hopes of securing promotion to the Premier League on Saturday delayed after they were held to a goalless draw by already relegated Sheffield Wednesday at the CBS Arena, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka featured prominently for the hosts, delivering a disciplined display in midfield across 82 minutes.
Operating in a holding role, he helped maintain control of possession and dictated the tempo alongside Matt Grimes, as Coventry finished with 69 per cent of the ball.
While Onyeka did not register a goal or assist, his positional awareness and defensive contributions ensured stability, as he focused on breaking up opposition attacks and recycling possession efficiently.
Since joining Coventry, the Nigerian has made 11 appearances, starting 10 matches and averaging 73 minutes per game.
He has contributed one goal, with a goal conversion rate of nine per cent, while maintaining a pass accuracy of 79 per cent.
Defensively, Onyeka has averaged 1.5 tackles and 0.8 interceptions per game, alongside 3.6 ball recoveries, underlining his importance in shielding the backline.
Despite dominating possession and controlling large spells of the contest, Coventry were unable to break down a resilient Wednesday side, who recorded just their third point of 2026 while extending an unwanted Football League record of 37 matches without a win.
Having thrashed Wednesday 5-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season, Coventry were expected to dominate, but the visitors proved far more organised this time, limiting clear-cut chances and remaining compact defensively.
Frustrations grew as the game wore on, with tempers briefly flaring on the touchline, but Coventry ultimately had to settle for a point as their promotion celebrations were postponed.
The draw leaves Coventry top of the table on 85 points and still firmly on course for promotion, although they will now have to wait for another opportunity to confirm their return to the Premier League.
