US President Donald Trump has threatened fresh military action against Iran, saying the United States would hit the country “VERY HARD TONIGHT” as hostilities between Washington and Tehran continue to intensify.
In a post on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had been severely weakened and declared that the United States was preparing for another round of attacks.
“The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT,” Trump wrote.
Trump also said the United States would seek control of Iran’s key energy infrastructure, including Kharg Island, the country’s main oil export hub.
“At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America,” he said.
Kharg Island is regarded as Iran’s most important oil export terminal and plays a central role in the country’s energy industry. Analysts say any attempt to seize or disrupt the facility could have major implications for global oil supplies and regional security.
