Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, says his bid for re-election in the June 20 governorship poll does not worth the blood of any citizen, as he called for a peaceful and violence-free election across the state.
Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, made the appeal on Friday during campaign rallies in Emure, Ise/Orun and Ikere local government areas, urging supporters to prioritise peace before, during and after the election.
The governor said his campaign had so far progressed without any incidents of violence and called for the peaceful atmosphere to be sustained.
“Our ambition, my ambition and the ambition of every other person in Ekiti State do not worth the blood of any Ekiti man,” he said. “By God’s grace, this election will hold and we will all be alive and in good health when our government is re-elected.”
Oyebanji urged APC members to focus on mobilisation rather than confrontation, insisting that the party would secure victory through calm engagement and unity.
“As we go back to our wards and polling units, let us be at peace with one another. We should not fight with anybody,” he said.
He also appealed to residents to support President Bola Tinubu and the APC, citing ongoing federal and state projects in the state as reasons for continued backing.
The governor highlighted road projects and infrastructure delivered under his administration and the federal government, saying they had improved connectivity and economic activity in the state.
He further encouraged party supporters to intensify voter mobilisation ahead of the poll, setting a target of strong electoral performance across the state.
At the Emure rally, Oyebanji also welcomed defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attributing their move to the performance of his administration.
Traditional rulers across the visited communities prayed for his success, while political stakeholders and party officials pledged strong support for his re-election bid.
