This was disclosed by Kim Luo, country director, passenger cars at Chery International, during a recent business visit to Carloha Nigeria, the authorised distributor of Chery vehicles in Nigeria.
Luo said the company’s growing presence in Nigeria’s passenger vehicle segment has prompted plans to explore opportunities in commercial vehicles, citing rising demand from businesses.
“The Nigerian market has shown resilience and potential, particularly with the reception of our passenger vehicles. This creates a basis to consider further investments, particularly in the commercial vehicle segment,” he said.
According to the company, the expansion is expected to introduce a range of commercial vehicles targeted to meet the m needs of Nigerian businesses, from logistics and transportation to construction and enterprise operations, which forms part of broader plans to scale operations.
The company reiterated its commitment to deepening its investment in Nigeria through expanded operations, after-sales support, and customer-centric initiatives.
“This planned expansion underscores not only Chery’s confidence in Nigeria but also our shared commitment to contributing meaningfully to the growth of the automotive sector,” Sola Adigun, managing director of Carloha Nigeria, said.
Carloha Nigeria distributes a range of Chery passenger vehicles in the country, including sedans, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and pickup trucks, in ICE, hybrid, and full-electric models.
The company also provides after-sales support packages, including CarlohaCare 6-6-7, which represents a 6-year warranty, 6 years free service, and a 7-day repair promise for vehicles sold through its network.
Industry analysts suggest that increased participation by global automotive players like Chery could catalyse growth across the value chain, stimulate job creation, and improve access to modern, efficient transport solutions in Nigeria.
As Nigeria seeks to attract investment into its automotive sector, the engagement between Chery International and Carloha Nigeria reflects growing interest by global manufacturers in the country’s mobility market and its role within the West African region.
