Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has dismissed reports that the Turkish club has reached an agreement to sign Egypt international Mohamed Salah, insisting no deal has been concluded despite growing speculation linking the former Liverpool forward with a move to the Black Sea club.

Salah, who became a free agent after leaving Liverpool earlier this summer, has emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market, with Turkish giants Trabzonspor and Besiktas both reported to be showing strong interest.
French outlet Foot Mercato reported that Trabzonspor had moved ahead of Besiktas in the race for the 34-year-old after opening advanced talks with the player’s representatives.
The report claimed the club was close to reaching an agreement on personal terms, prompting suggestions that Trabzonspor had overtaken their Super Lig rivals in the race for Salah’s signature.
However, Doğan moved quickly to play down the speculation.
“Many reports are confirming our agreement with Mohamed Salah, but that hasn’t happened. If anything does, I will announce it to the fans and all media outlets,” he told Turkish broadcaster Aspor.
The Trabzonspor president, however, admitted he would welcome the opportunity to sign the Egyptian superstar.
“I hope to sign Salah, and I am committed to the interests of Trabzonspor,” he added.
Before Trabzonspor’s reported interest emerged, Salah had been widely expected to join Besiktas after reportedly reaching a verbal agreement with the Istanbul club.
Reports suggested Besiktas had offered the forward a 1+1-year contract worth €10 million net per season, with an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses.
However, negotiations are understood to have stalled as Trabzonspor intensified their pursuit of the Egyptian international.
Salah’s availability has attracted interest from clubs across Europe and the Middle East following the end of his highly successful spell at Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the club’s greatest players of the modern era.
While Trabzonspor remain interested in bringing the veteran forward to the Turkish Super Lig, the club’s president has made it clear that reports of a completed agreement are premature, leaving Salah’s next destination still unresolved.
