Chelle spoke after welcoming defender Calvin Bassey to the team’s camp in Warsaw. The Fulham star’s arrival increased the number of players in camp to 20, providing the coach with a balanced squad across all areas of the pitch.
Germany-based forward Philip Otele, who impressed during Nigeria’s successful Unity Cup campaign in London, was expected to arrive in camp on Tuesday night.
Bassey’s arrival gives Chelle greater flexibility in defence, with the versatile defender capable of partnering Semi Ajayi in central defence, while Igoh Ogbu and Emmanuel Fernandez are also available for selection.
“Now, we have a team, and we are preparing to go out there and win,” Chelle said.
“Winning is the mentality that we are trying to create in the team and among the players. We will go for a win on Wednesday.”
The Super Eagles coach is expected to use the match to further build on the winning culture established during Nigeria’s successful Unity Cup title defence in London.
Wednesday’s encounter will kick off at 7:45 p.m. Nigerian time at the 58,000-capacity PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw.
