This comment come amidst rising insecurity across the country .
Welcoming the visiting journalists, Nwifuru said the tour would provide an opportunity for the media to independently assess the administration’s achievements in infrastructure and development.
“Many of you may be shocked by what you are going to see. You may not see what you expected to see, but I urge you to judge us fairly based on what you will observe during this tour,” the governor said.
He noted that the state government had embarked on extensive road construction projects across the 13 local government areas, insisting that development projects were visible in every part of the state.
“There is no place you go to in Ebonyi that you will not see more than five projects. The minimum project you can see is between 10 and 22 kilometres of road construction, while some others stretch beyond 100 kilometres,” he stated.
The governor assured journalists and visitors of their safety throughout the tour, describing Ebonyi as the safest state in the country.
“What I want to assure you is of the security of our state. Feel free wherever you go because this is the safest place in this country,” Nwifuru said.
He further challenged anyone in doubt to verify his claim, insisting that kidnapping has been eliminated in the state under his administration.
“Since I became governor, we have never recorded one case of kidnapping in this state. You can make your search and find out,” he declared.
The governor added that residents and visitors could move freely across the state at any time without fear.
“So be free. Even at midnight, you can go anywhere. We are on the ground, ensuring that our people and visitors are safe,” he said.
The Presidential Media Tour of Projects in the South-East is designed to showcase major federal and state government projects across the region and provide journalists with firsthand information on developmental initiatives.
