In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the Abia APC said the occasion remains a significant reminder of Nigeria’s democratic journey and the sacrifices that shaped it.
The party described Democracy Day as “a historic one that commemorates the triumph of the people’s will, the sacrifices of our democratic heroes, and the resilience of our democratic institutions,” while praising the Tinubu administration’s policy direction.
According to the statement, “his (Tinubu) administration has demonstrated courage and determination in implementing critical reforms aimed at addressing long-standing structural challenges confronting our nation”.
It added that although the ongoing reforms may present temporary hardships, they are essential for long-term stability and growth.
“While these reforms may demand temporary sacrifices, they are necessary steps towards building a stronger economy, attracting investments, creating jobs, stabilising public finances, and securing a better future for generations yet unborn,” the party stated.
The Abia APC further commended President Tinubu’s leadership style, saying it has helped restore public confidence in the direction of the country.
“President Tinubu’s bold leadership has rekindled hope in the possibility of a Nigeria that works for all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or political affiliation,” the statement read.
The party also urged citizens to remain supportive of federal government policies, stressing that democracy thrives on active participation and collective responsibility.
“Democracy thrives when citizens actively participate in governance and support policies designed to advance the collective good,” it said, calling on residents of Abia State to “continue supporting the reform agenda of the Federal Government and to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic values, national unity, peace, and development”.
Reaffirming its political stance, the party said it remains committed to governance principles rooted in accountability and service delivery.
“As a party, the Abia APC remains committed and focused on our journey towards enthroning good governance, transparency, accountability, welfare of Abians, defending democratic principles, and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community across Abia State and Nigeria at large,” the statement concluded.
