Najeem Salaam, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Osun State, has promised to introduce a N1 billion annual loan scheme for women entrepreneurs to support women-owned businesses in the state if elected.

Presenting his manifesto at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Osogbo, on Monday, Salaam said his Administration would support women-owned enterprises and introduce policies aimed at protecting women in the state.

The former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly also promised business support programmes as well as product off-take and marketing arrangements for Made-in-Osun products to boost local enterprises, indigenous producers and small businesses.
On social welfare and healthcare, Salaam said: “Monthly allowances and free medical treatment will be given to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above who are without pensions. Free ante-natal care for women and free healthcare services for children between the ages of one and 18 years.”
Outlining his healthcare development plan, the ADC candidate said there would be “establishment of state-of-the-art specialist hospitals with diagnostic and interventional radiology centres in the three senatorial districts for proper accessibility through a public-private partnership model for adequate sustainability.”
He further promised the “resuscitation of the Osun Pharmaceutical Company through a public-private partnership model.”
Salaam also said his Administration would pursue 24-hour electricity supply for the State, describing it as achievable and doable through strategic investments and the implementation of the Electricity Act.
“When there is power, industries emerge. When industries emerge, jobs are created. When jobs are created, families prosper. When families prosper, communities flourish,” he said.
