According to a statement by the manufacturer, each beneficiary received three bags of 50kg NPK fertiliser, two bags of Urea fertiliser, one knapsack sprayer, and 10 litres of Force-Up herbicide, alongside practical training on modern farming techniques.
Ayyagari Subbaraidu, head of dangote cement plc, Ibese Plant, said the programme is designed to build a sustainable agricultural ecosystem and support local food production.
“We provide modern farm inputs to support our farmers to enhance productivity and achieve better yields. This is not just about distribution; it is about enabling a shift to more efficient and sustainable farming methods that will ultimately boost food production and livelihoods,” he said.
Subbaraidu emphasised that the training component equips farmers with knowledge on good agricultural practices, crop protection, and pest management to maximise the benefits of the inputs and reduce farming risks.
He described the beneficiaries as “men and women whose labour sustains our food systems and contributes immensely to the well being of our communities,” noting that the intervention aligns with government priorities on agricultural development.
One of the beneficiaries, Akanbi Moses from Aga Olowo Community, commended the programme for significantly improving productivity and income levels, enabling farmers to scale up their operations and reduce post harvest losses.
Segun Ableto, representing the chairman of Yewa North Local Government, lauded Dangote Cement for its consistent support, describing the initiative as a model of effective public private partnership in rural development and food security.
Dayo Ogunyinka, chairman of the communities joint consultative committee, expressed appreciation to the company for sustaining the programme, which has become a major support system for farmers.
“This programme has continued to improve the lives of our people. It has strengthened our farmers’ capacity and deepened the relationship between Dangote Cement and our communities,” he said.
