Dan’iya said that despite the enormous allocations received by the Sokoto State Government and the 23 Local Government Councils from the Federation Account over the last three years, the impact of governance on the lives of ordinary citizens remained minimal.
Dan’iya said that despite the enormous allocations received by the Sokoto State Government and the 23 Local Government Councils from the Federation Account over the last three years, the impact of governance on the lives of ordinary citizens remained minimal.
In a statement issued through his Press Secretary/Media Aide, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC governorship candidate expressed concern over what he described as the steady decline in critical sectors of development under the current administration.
According to him, “Leadership must be measured by visible impact on the lives of the people, not by political slogans or public relations campaigns. Sokoto people deserve transparent governance, accountability, and meaningful development that can be seen and felt across communities.”
Dan’iya questioned the implementation and effectiveness of the state government’s much-publicised “9-Point Smart Agenda,” arguing that many residents are yet to witness tangible developmental outcomes that reflect the huge resources available to the government.
He noted that insecurity remained one of the greatest concerns facing residents across several parts of Sokoto State, alleging that banditry and criminal activities continue to threaten lives, livelihoods, and economic activities in many communities.
“The protection of lives and property remains the primary responsibility of government. Unfortunately, many citizens still live in fear while criminal elements continue to operate in some areas with alarming frequency,” he stated.
The ADC candidate also lamented the persistent water scarcity affecting residents of Sokoto metropolis and other urban centers, stressing that access to clean and portable water is a basic necessity that should not be neglected.
On education, Dan’iya expressed concern over the condition of public schools across the state, describing many learning environments as inadequate and unconducive for effective teaching and learning.
He criticised policies that place additional financial burdens on parents, emphasising that quality education should remain accessible and affordable for every child regardless of economic background.
“Our administration will prioritise the revitalisation of public schools, teacher development, improved infrastructure, and policies that will make education accessible to all children in Sokoto State,” he said.
Speaking on the civil service, Dan’iya stated that the morale and efficiency of public servants have weakened due to poor institutional support and ineffective administrative structures, stressing the need for reforms that will restore professionalism, productivity, and dignity within the service.
He further expressed dissatisfaction with the state of the healthcare sector, particularly the condition of state-owned health facilities, noting that many residents now depend heavily on federal institutions and private hospitals for medical attention.
“A functional healthcare system is fundamental to public welfare. Government must ensure that hospitals are properly equipped, staffed, and capable of delivering quality healthcare services to the people,” he added.
The ADC governorship candidate also raised concerns over the condition of local government administration in the state, alleging that despite substantial allocations to the councils, many local government areas lack visible developmental projects capable of improving rural livelihoods.
He noted that poverty, unemployment, and inflation continue to place severe pressure on citizens, thereby increasing public frustration and hardship across the state.
Dan’iya assured the people of Sokoto State that the ADC remains committed to offering purposeful leadership anchored on accountability, security, economic growth, education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and inclusive governance.
“The ADC represents a credible alternative built on competence, compassion, and people-centered leadership. We are determined to restore public confidence in governance and place Sokoto State on the path of sustainable growth and development,” he stated.
He called on Nigerians and the people of Sokoto State to support the ADC in the 2027 general election, stressing that democratic participation remains essential towards achieving positive change and national renewal.
