Cadbury Nigeria Plc has appointed Dr. Rasaq Adedoyin Salami as its new Chairman, following the resignation of Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman, who stepped down after six years in the role.

The appointments took effect on August 3, 2026, with the company also naming Mrs. Uwa Osa-Oboh as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
The board expressed appreciation to Mr. Sulaiman for his contributions to Cadbury Nigeria since joining the board as a Non-Executive Director in August 2009 and later becoming Chairman on July 22, 2020.
During his tenure, Mr. Sulaiman brought extensive experience in management consulting, enterprise transformation, organisational development and corporate governance to the company.
He previously worked with Arthur Andersen & Co., Andersen Consulting and Accenture, where he retired as Country Managing Director and Chairman of Accenture Nigeria in 2010.
Beyond Cadbury Nigeria, Mr. Sulaiman has served on the boards of several organisations, including ABSA Nigeria, SecureID Limited and Interswitch Limited. He was also Chairman of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria from 2017 to 2021.
The incoming chairman, Dr. Salami, joined Cadbury Nigeria’s board as an Independent Non-Executive Director in March 2026 and brings more than three decades of experience spanning economics, public policy, academia and corporate governance.
Dr. Salami is the Chief Executive Officer of KAINOS Edge Consulting Ltd, an applied economics advisory firm he co-founded. He has also held leadership positions on boards across logistics, insurance, asset management, pensions and infrastructure sectors.
He previously served as Chairman of Prestige Assurance Plc and ARM Investment Managers Ltd. In government, Dr. Salami served as Chief Economic Adviser to former President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council.
His international policy engagements include membership of the International Monetary Fund Advisory Group for Sub-Saharan Africa, while his consulting experience covers institutions such as the World Bank, International Finance Corporation, United Nations Industrial Development Organisation and the former UK Department for International Development.
An academic, Dr. Salami is a member of the adjunct faculty at Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University, where his work focuses on areas including macroeconomic modelling, manufacturing transformation, financial sector reforms and market systems development.
The company’s new Independent Non-Executive Director, Mrs. Osa-Oboh, is the Head of Corporate Development at Capital Alliance Nigeria, a member of the African Capital Alliance Group.
Before joining Capital Alliance Nigeria in 2013, Mrs. Osa-Oboh served as Chief Executive Officer of ReStraL Limited, a management consulting firm where she advised corporations and government agencies on strategy, organisational effectiveness and performance improvement.
A lawyer called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988, Mrs. Osa-Oboh has built experience across legal practice, corporate finance, investment management, strategy and business leadership.
Commenting on the changes, Managing Director of Cadbury Nigeria, Mr. Ayman Fahmy Gaafar, praised the outgoing chairman for his contribution to the company over the past 17 years.
“Mr. Sulaiman has added significant value to our Board and organisation in the last 17 years,” Mr. Gaafar said.
He added that Cadbury Nigeria was looking forward to the experience of Dr. Salami, describing him as a respected economist, accomplished academic and former presidential adviser.
“We look forward to his contribution to our business success. In the same vein, we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Osa-Oboh, a multidimensional business leader, to our Board,” Mr. Gaafar said.
Cadbury Nigeria Plc is a subsidiary of global snacking company Mondelēz International and manufactures products including the Bournvita beverage brand and confectionery products for consumers in Nigeria.
