A non-governmental organisation, the Young Aerospace Professionals Initiative, has called on stakeholders to expand access to aerospace opportunities for engineering students and young professionals.

The visit brought together 28 engineering students from the University of Lagos and Lagos State University, as well as young professionals, to gain practical exposure to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle technologies, engage directly with UAV experts and explore the skills required to contribute to the future of drone technology.
Speaking on the initiative, the founder of YAPI, Aanuoluwapo Ojewunmi, emphasised the need for deliberate platforms that connect young Nigerians with opportunities in the aerospace industry.
She said, “Access to aerospace opportunities should not be limited by a lack of exposure. Through YAPI, we are building bridges between education and industry by creating meaningful experiences where young engineers and professionals can interact with the technologies, organisations and people shaping the future of aviation.
“Aerospace education diplomacy is about creating global connections, sharing knowledge and ensuring that young talents are prepared to contribute to the industry.”
She added that sustained engagement between aspiring professionals and established players in the sector would help build local capacity and enhance global competitiveness.
Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Aerial Robotix UAV Services Limited, Tudor Moss, said, “It was a privilege to welcome Aanuoluwapo Ojewunmi, YAPI and 28 talented students to Aerial Robotix. The future of the UAV industry will be driven not only by advances in technology but by the people who design, operate and regulate it safely.
“We believe that inspiring the next generation is just as important as developing the technology itself. Across Africa, we are seeing drones move from being specialist tools to becoming essential infrastructure for industries including energy, agriculture, logistics, environmental monitoring, public safety and infrastructure inspection.
“This growth will create significant demand for skilled pilots, engineers, data analysts, software developers, maintenance technicians and aviation professionals. At Aerial Robotix, our mission is to build that capability through innovation, training and the highest aviation safety standards.”
According to the statement, the industrial visit was supported by key stakeholders, including PT21 Solutions and the Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Fatai Oseni.
