Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno used the launch of the maiden International flight from the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, to set out his view on leadership, saying the project shows loyalty through action and continuity in government.
Eno spoke on Saturday at a ceremony at the airport, just before the flight from Uyo left for Accra. He said he inspected the facility before the event to confirm it was ready and thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving the airport’s international status and for backing the project.
Eno said the project reflects a shared effort built over time. He said, “This is the labour of our heroes past and if God had not ordained it, we wouldn’t be here today.”
He said his focus is to complete projects started by others. “The legacy is not so much about what you did as to what you helped finish,” he said.
The governor described loyalty as a duty to act. “Loyalty is action. Loyalty is not words,” he said. He added that leaders must serve the people and carry on existing work.
He linked the airport to other projects he plans to complete. “I have time to concentrate on the unfinished business and this is one of those businesses,” he said.
Eno thanked the president for supporting the upgrade adding that funding also helped bring the project to completion.
