President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, has received former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan during an official visit carried out on behalf of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, has received former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan during an official visit carried out on behalf of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Jonathan visited Sierra Leone in his capacity as Special Envoy of President Tinubu, according to a statement by President Bio.
According to Bio, both leaders held constructive discussions during the meeting, while he also conveyed fraternal greetings to President Tinubu.
Bio also stated that he conveyed his “fraternal greetings” to President Tinubu during the audience with Jonathan, reflecting the diplomatic ties between both West African nations.
The visit comes amid ongoing regional engagements among African leaders on issues relating to governance, diplomacy, peace and cooperation within the sub-region.
Jonathan, who served as Nigeria’s president from 2010 to 2015, has continued to play prominent diplomatic and mediation roles across Africa since leaving office.
