Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three persons with disabilities for alleged drug trafficking during separate operations in Anambra and Kwara states.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, one of the suspects, 60-year-old Romanus Nwabara, was arrested on May 6 in Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, Anambra State.
Babafemi said the suspect was apprehended following credible intelligence, with 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets recovered from him.
He added that another suspect, Amos Kenneth, 25, was arrested during a raid in the Ogbunike area of Anambra State on May 7.
“A 60-year-old man, Romanus Nwabara, was among three persons with disabilities arrested by operatives of the NDLEA for drug trafficking during interdiction operations in parts of Anambra and Kwara states.
“Based on credible intelligence, Nwabara was on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, traced to Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, where he was found with 250 grams of skunk in retail sachets.
“In a separate raid at Ogbunike area of the state, the NDLEA officers on Thursday, May 7, arrested another PWD, Amos Kenneth, 25, with 160.3 grams of Tramadol 225mg and 100mg, 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol-5, and 176.93 grams of skunk,” the statement partly read.
In Kwara State, Babafemi said the NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu intercepted a commercial vehicle on May 8 and arrested another person with disability identified as Usman Salisu.
According to the agency, Salisu was found with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a brown school bag.
“In Kwara, NDLEA operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu on Friday, May 8, intercepted a commercial vehicle and, during a search, one of the passengers, a PWD, Usman Salisu, was found with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a brown school bag,” he said.
Babafemi further disclosed that operatives of the NDLEA Special Operations Unit raided a mansion located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, allegedly used as a stash house for illicit drugs.
He said 4,000 parcels of Loud, a potent strain of imported cannabis weighing 2,326 kilograms and valued at over N5.815bn, were recovered during the operation conducted on May 8.
“Operatives of the Special Operations Unit of the NDLEA on Friday, May 8, raided a Lekki mansion used as a stash house, where 4,000 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of imported cannabis weighing 2,326 kilograms with a street value of over N5,815,000,000 were recovered.
“Also seized from the house located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, were two Mercedes-Benz buses and different designer sachets used in packaging the illicit substance for retail distribution,” he stated.
In Nasarawa State, Babafemi said operatives arrested a 38-year-old suspect, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, with 129 kilograms of skunk at Nyanya-Karu on May 4.
He added that NDLEA operatives on patrol along the Okene-Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a white commuter J5 bus heading to Abuja on May 8.
“A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms and the arrest of three suspects: Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond, and Babangida Musa,” he said.
Babafemi also disclosed that NDLEA officers raided a makeshift skuchies production factory in the Ijora Badia area of Lagos on May 6.
He said two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were arrested during the operation while allegedly producing the illicit substance.
“A total of 270 litres of already produced skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol 225mg were recovered from them,” Babafemi added.
Reacting to the operations, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers of the Special Operations Unit and commands in Anambra, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Lagos states for the arrests and seizures.
He urged them to sustain the momentum in the agency’s drug supply reduction and sensitisation campaigns across the country.
