The Managing Director of the Kaduna State Roads Agency, Dr Abdullahi Ahmed, has described Governor Uba Sani as a symbol of the democratic ideals celebrated on June 12, saying his leadership reflects the values of justice, accountability, inclusion and service to the people.

In a statement issued on Friday to commemorate the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, Ahmed said the governor’s role in Nigeria’s pro-democracy movement and his current style of governance demonstrate a lasting commitment to the principles that inspired the June 12 struggle.

He noted that June 12 remains a defining moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey and a reminder of the sacrifices made by citizens who fought for constitutional rule, freedom and the protection of fundamental rights.
According to him, Uba Sani’s transition from a democracy activist to the governor of Kaduna State underscores the enduring relevance of those values.
“Governor Uba Sani’s leadership reflects the true spirit of June 12. He stood with millions of Nigerians in the struggle for democracy and continues to uphold those values through inclusive governance, transparency and policies that place the welfare of citizens at the centre of government activities,” he said.
Baba Ahmed commended the governor’s efforts in infrastructure development, particularly in road construction, rural connectivity and community-focused projects, noting that such initiatives are improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities across the state.
He added that the administration’s commitment to equitable development and people-oriented policies aligns with the aspirations of those who fought for democratic governance in Nigeria.
“Democracy is best measured by its impact on the lives of the people. Governor Uba Sani has continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering the dividends of democracy through policies and projects that promote growth, inclusion and shared prosperity,” he added.
The KADRA boss congratulated the governor and residents of Kaduna State on the Democracy Day celebration and urged Nigerians to continue supporting democratic institutions and efforts aimed at national development.
He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to supporting the administration’s vision of driving economic growth through sustainable road infrastructure and improved service delivery.
Democracy Day is observed annually on June 12 in honour of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, widely regarded as the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election.
The date was officially adopted as Nigeria’s Democracy Day in 2018, replacing May 29 and serves as a reminder of the country’s struggle for democratic governance and civil liberties.
