The Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress caucus in the House of Representatives, Afam Ogene, has emerged as the consensus candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra State.
The decision was reached at the party’s National Assembly primary election held in Atani, headquarters of Ogbaru LGA, on Saturday.

Ogene, who is seeking re-election, thanked party supporters for choosing him based on his quality representation, integrity in service, and servant-leadership that have endeared him to constituents.
He expressed appreciation for their love and confidence in him.
He said, “I thank the party supporters for finding me worthy to represent the party. And I urge every stakeholder to begin door-to-door sensitisation and mobilisation of voters in their respective neighbourhoods across Ogbaru Federal Constituency ahead of next year’s House of Representatives election.
“This will help the NDC secure a comprehensive victory in the 2027 general elections — including the presidential, senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly elections.”
He also assured them that he will not let them down, as he remains committed to prioritising the interests of the Ogbaru people.
