The new dialysis unit, scheduled to open to the public on April 27, is part of efforts to strengthen comprehensive, patient-centred care and provide integrated treatment for patients with kidney-related conditions.
The hospital, in a statement to The PUNCH, said the addition of dialysis services would enable patients requiring renal care to receive end-to-end treatment within its network, enhancing both outcomes and convenience.
Chronic kidney disease remains a growing health concern in Nigeria, with millions affected and limited access to renal replacement therapy, making such interventions critical to reducing morbidity and mortality.
Speaking on the development, the Managing Director of R-Jolad Hospital, Dr Funsho Oladipo, said the initiative reflected the hospital’s commitment to meeting patients’ evolving health needs.
“Our priority at R-Jolad is to continually evolve in response to patient needs. The introduction of dialysis services within our facility is a critical milestone in strengthening our specialist care offering.
“Beyond access, we are also focused on affordability, ensuring more patients can receive consistent, life-saving treatment without undue financial strain,” he said.
To ensure high-quality service delivery, the hospital entered into a strategic collaboration with Osiris Health, managers of Life Support Medical Centre, one of Nigeria’s earliest dialysis providers.
Life Support Medical Centre, established in 1986, has developed expertise in renal care over nearly four decades, with experience in managing complex kidney conditions and sustaining dialysis services.
Through the partnership, the new centre is equipped with advanced dialysis infrastructure and supported by established clinical protocols aimed at delivering optimal patient outcomes.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Osiris Health, Ayoola Oladipupo, said the collaboration would expand access to specialised kidney care.
“Osiris Health is committed to expanding access to quality renal care in Nigeria. This collaboration with R-Jolad Hospital allows us to extend our expertise to a broader patient base while working within a well-established and trusted healthcare system,” he said.
In a bid to reduce financial barriers, the hospital announced that dialysis sessions at the facility would be offered at a discounted rate of N35,000 per session, a move expected to ease the burden on patients requiring long-term treatment.
R-Jolad Hospital, established in 1982, operates a 275-bed multi-speciality system across eight locations in Lagos and Port Harcourt, providing a range of specialist services supported by modern diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The hospital said the new dialysis centre aligns with its broader mission to improve health outcomes through innovation, strategic partnerships, and excellence in clinical service delivery.
