“Within the period under review, the Command has intensified its fight against kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling and arms trafficking through intelligence-led operations, inter-agency collaboration and sustained patrols across identified hotspots,” Aliyu said.
He disclosed that the Command arrested seven suspected kidnappers, 10 armed robbery suspects, one suspected bandit, two informants and 21 suspected drug peddlers. “Others arrested included 10 murder suspects, 36 persons linked to rape and sodomy cases, 13 suspected social miscreants and 130 suspects involved in other offences.
“One hundred and fifty-two major cases were recorded during the month, with 109 already charged to court following the completion of investigations”, according to him.
Aliyu said 17 kidnapped victims were rescued and reunited with their families after undergoing medical examinations and debriefing.
The Command also recovered 466 suspected rustled animals, three vehicles, 22 motorcycles, 20 laptops, mobile phones and different quantities of illicit drugs. He noted that the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit and enhanced community policing had boosted security operations.
“We are not resting on these achievements,” Aliyu said, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue providing useful information to the police.
“Criminal elements are hereby warned to desist from all acts of criminality or face the full weight of the law,” he added.
