The 19-time Serie A champions suffered a damaging 2-1 home defeat to Cagliari Calcio on Sunday in their final league game of the season, a result that confirmed Milan would miss out on Europe’s premier club competition.
Allegri was appointed last May, returning to the San Siro 11 years after the end of his first spell in charge, with the task of restoring the club to Champions League football after a disappointing previous campaign.
In a statement released by club owners RedBird Capital Partners, the club confirmed sweeping changes across its football operations.
“After the disappointment of last year, the mandate ownership set for the club was to return to the Champions League and to establish a foundation for winning consistently at the top of Serie A,” the statement read.
“It is now time for change and a comprehensive reorganisation of football operations.”
The club added that chief executive Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare, technical director Geoffrey Moncada and Allegri had all departed with immediate effect.
“We thank each one for their hard work and dedication to AC Milan during their respective tenures,” the statement added.
“Further announcements regarding the next appointments will be made in due course to be ready and well prepared for next season.”
