June 12 celebration signifies triumph of people’s will — Fajemirokun-Ajayi

Simisola Fajemirokun-Ajayi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, has described the maiden June 12 Democracy Day celebration as “triumph of people’s will after decades of subversion”.

Fajemirokun-Ajayi, disclosed this on Thursday in Ile-Oluji during the commissioning of the 10MVA 33/11KV Ile-Oluji power injection transformer substation to mark the 10th year coronation anniversary of Jegun of Ile-Oluji, Olufaderin Adetimehin, in Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of the state.

According to her, the June 12 celebration symbolises the triumph of the people’s will, the resilience of democratic ideals, and the enduring belief that leadership must be anchored on service, accountability, and the common good.

She said; “the heroes of our democracy envisioned a nation where governance would bring development closer to the people and where leadership would be measured not by promises made but by lives transformed and or impacted.

“As we stand here to witness the commissioning of this power station, one of my father’s enduring legacies, Oladele Fajemirokun, we are reminded that development is never accidental. It is the product of commitment, sacrifice, and individuals who dare to invest in the future of their people. My grandfather exemplified this in an unalloyed manner.

“Equally significant was his donation of ₦30 million towards the installation of the transformer project that has substantially improved electricity supply within our community. At a time when many residents struggled under the burden of inadequate power supply, he stepped forward as the highest individual donor, contributing meaningfully to a solution that continues to benefit homes, schools, hospitals, businesses, and places of worship.

“These contributions were not made for recognition or political gain. They were made because service to the community is a value deeply rooted in our family’s identity.

“Today, as we celebrate another milestone in the development of our constituency, we are reminded that democracy achieves its true purpose only when it delivers tangible benefits to ordinary citizens.

“This power station stands as evidence of what can be achieved when government, community leaders, private citizens, and development-minded stakeholders work together in pursuit of a common vision. My aspiration to represent the good people of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives are inspired by this same philosophy of service that my father has been doing for so long. It is motivated by a desire to build upon the foundations laid by my grandfather and father to ensure that our people receive development, and opportunities they deserve.

“Our people deserve effective representation that prioritises infrastructure, quality education, healthcare, youth empowerment, agricultural development, economic growth, and sustainable job creation. We deserve leadership that listens, engages, and delivers. Most importantly, we deserve a future where every child can dream without limitation and every family can enjoy the benefits of meaningful development.”

Fajemirokun-Ajayi, who contested in the last House of Representatives, APC primary election in Ondo State, to represent the good people of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency said the story of the Fajemirokun family in Ile-Oluji and Ondo State demonstrates the genuine service transcends titles and political office.

“It is a lifelong commitment to improving the welfare of others and contributing positively to society. It is this legacy of service that continues to inspire me as I seek to contribute my quota to the development of our constituency and our nation. As we commission this power station today, let us see it not merely as a physical structure but as a symbol of hope, progress, and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead for our people. Let it serve as a reminder that when we unite around a shared vision for development, there is no challenge we cannot overcome.

“I recall with profound gratitude and immense joy the overwhelming support I received from the women, youth, and elders of our great constituency and party during the last APC primary election. Your confidence in my vision and leadership was both humbling and inspiring, and that remarkable demonstration of solidarity remains deeply etched in my heart. As we begin to look ahead to the 2027 general election, I humbly seek your continued support, encouragement, and partnership. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous, and more inclusive constituency.

“Our people deserve effective representation, responsive leadership, and sustainable development, and that conviction remains the driving force behind my aspiration to serve as your representative,” she said.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who commissioned the 10MVA 33/11KV Ile-Oluji power injection transformer substation, said the projects; the two blocks of 40-room student hostels and the farmers’ market are eloquent testimonies to what a determined and united people can accomplish.

Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Amidu Takuro said; “these projects are symbols of commoner vision and sheer sacrifice. They demonstrate that development flourishes where leadership inspired confidence and where citizens take ownership of the future they desire.

“The transformation station represents more than an improvement in electricity supply. It is an investment in enterprise, productivity and economic growth. Access to reliable power remains one of the strongest catalysts for industrial expansion, commercial activity and improved quality of life.

“The benefit of these projects will be fed by households, artisans, traders, entrepreneurs and future investors alike. The student hostels reflect a profound commitment to education and human capital development. Every enduring society is built upon the strength of its educational institutions. By investing in facilities that support learning, the people of Ile-Oluji are investing in the future leaders, professionals and innovators who will shape our society tomorrow.

“The farmers’ market equally deserves commendation. Agriculture remains central to the economic lives of our people. A modern market facility will enhance trade, improve access to buyers, reduce adverse losses and strengthen the agricultural value chain. It will create opportunities for work and contribute to food security and rural development in the state.”

The Jegun of Ile-Oluji kingdom, Olufaderin Adetimehin, in his address said the electricity was the lifeblood of modern society and with this advancement; “we are not merely enhancing our power supply, we are feeling dreams, businesses, and opportunities for our youth and entire community.”
