The youth leader of All Progressives Congress in Imo State, Franklin-Kennedy Ibeh, has condemned the xenophobic attacks going on in South Africa against foreigners of African descents.

Ibeh in a statement in Owerri on Wednesday condemned the attacks, accusing president Cyril Rqmaphosa and the ruling African National Congress of paying lips service to what he described as the “shameful” xenophobic attacks by South African nationals against their Africa brothers and sisters living in South Africa.

The Imo APC youth leader said that ex-South African leaders like Nelson Mandela, Oliver Tambo, mama Winnie Mandela and Mvumbi Luthuli would be angry in their graves seeing what South Africans had subjected other Africans living in the Southern African country to.
Ibeh said, “As the Imo state Youth leader and president of Duruiheoma Group, I condemn the on going xenophobic attacks against Africans living in South Africa.
“President Cyril Ramaphosa led government and the ANC are failures. Late South African leaders like Oliver Tambo, Luthuli, Nelson Mandela and Mama Winnie Mandela must be turning over angrily in their graves because of the ongoing shameful xenophobic attacks in South Africa when dismantling of colonial-era borders ought to be an answered prayer across Africa .
“The worst are South African citizens who should be going after supposed leaders who failed them rather than foreigners.
“The truth is that the unfortunate situation In South Africa is traceable to leadership failure. Their leaders have failed them and instead of them to channel their anger to the appropriate quarters they have chosen for execution innocent non South Africans who are in the country doing legitimate businesses and growing the economy.”
Ibeh called for an immediate end to the attacks and urged Africans to promote peace, economic cooperation, political tolerance and security across the continent.
South Africa has witnessed recurring incidents of xenophobic violence over the years, with foreign nationals, particularly migrants from other African countries, often targeted during periods of social and economic tension.
The attacks have repeatedly drawn condemnation from African leaders, civil society groups and regional organisations, which have called for stronger measures to protect migrants and promote African unity.
