According to a statement issued on Saturday by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Yusuf stressed that public office holders must remain focused on service delivery and support the administration’s development agenda.
The governor said his administration would continue to assess the performance of commissioners and advisers, warning that those who fail to meet expectations should either improve their output or be prepared to leave office.
He emphasized that accountability remains a central pillar of his government, adding that residents of the state expect tangible results from those entrusted with leadership positions. “Our administration will not condone negligence, lack of commitment or poor performance. Every appointee must contribute meaningfully to the development of Kano State and the welfare of its people,” the governor was quoted as saying.
While cautioning underperforming officials, Yusuf also used the occasion to recognise outstanding service within his cabinet, singling out the Commissioner for Environment, Dahir Hashim, for special commendation.
The governor described Hashim, regarded as the youngest commissioner in the state executive council, as an innovative and hardworking official whose performance has stood out since his appointment.
He praised the commissioner’s commitment, creativity and contributions to promoting government programmes, noting that his efforts have helped strengthen communication between the administration and the public.
Yusuf said the recognition was intended to encourage excellence in public service and demonstrate that hard work and competence would always be rewarded by his administration.
The governor reiterated his commitment to building a results-driven government, stressing that dedication, loyalty and efficiency would remain key criteria for retaining political appointments.
The latest warning comes amid growing expectations for enhanced service delivery across ministries, departments and agencies as the Yusuf administration enters a critical phase of implementing its development programmes in Kano State.
